Dr Nita M. Thakare, Head of the Department, Computer Technology
With the rapid development in computer hardware and software technology, computing has become ubiquitous. We, the department of Computer Technology are committed to impart technical skills in computer engineering field and to introduce students to the latest computer technology. The department has state-of-the-art laboratories, well qualified and experienced faculty members and skilled staff. Computer Technology department has a very vibrant students forum SCOoP which organizes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to give exposure to the hidden talent in students as well as to gain knowledge about new technologies. Students are also actively involved in presenting research papers in the conferences, developing softwares and participating in various sports at university/state level.
Faculty Members are encouraged and involved in R&D work, publication of research papers and copyrighted literary materials. They are also closely associated with students through personal counseling and Mentoring.
Thus the department strives to provide opportunities for overall development of students and faculty.

Department of Computer Technology

To provide students with a sound foundation in the Mathematics, Basic Sciences and   Engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering   problems.

To develop an ability among the students to understand and apply technical know-how so as to    design, analyze, and develop novel software systems/products to provide solutions to the real life problems.

To prepare students for successful careers through comprehensive and precise education/training/skill development using state-of-the-art infrastructure.

To inculcate social and ethical values to relate engineering issues to a broader social context.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

Student Computer Organization of Priyadarshini (SCOoP) recognized by ISTE was established on  5th September 2000. Students  elect President, Secretary, and Treasurer by voting.  Various committees headed by teacher-incharges are formed by taking students from various semesters to organize various events. This forum helps students in overall development of personality.

 

The committees formed to organize various events are as follows :

  • Technical: Organizes Technical events such as paper presentation, project competition, software contest, hardware contest and quiz contest
  • Career Development Cell: Organizes Group discussions, aptitude tests and Seminars.
  • Sports: Organizes various sports like badminton, Chess, Gaming, etc
  • Cultural: Organizes cultural events such as dance, singing, poem recitation etc. competitions.
  • Finance: Arranges the sponsorship for various events organized
  • Magazine: It publishes departmental magazine ‘Abhikalan’. Students and faculties give articles on latest technical happenings
