Priyadarshini College of Engineering (PCE), Nagpur, in collaboration with National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur organised an International Conference on Adopting Green Initiatives for Sustainability (ICAGIS-2022) during 24-25 August, 2022 under the banner of Enhancing Green Economy in three countries of Asia (EGEA) Co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Around 35 delegates from reputed Foreign Universities of six European countries & three Asian countries were part of this conference. The aim of ICAGIS-2022 was to bring together academicians, scientists, industrialists and professionals to address and discuss the emerging issues in the field of Green Initiatives for Sustainability.
Inauguration of the conference was done by well-known Indian Water Conservationist commonly known as “Jalpurush”, Shri Rajendra Singh as Chief Guest. In his address he expressed that the blatant and criminal negation of environmental abuse is not only a pestiferous act but is causing irreparable damages to mother earth. He urged the academicians, management people, policy makers to imbibe the culture of respecting earth and one of the five elements of nature ‘water’ Dr. Carlos Machado (Educational Advisor, Basel, (Switzerland) & Juliana Hilf (OVG University of Magdeburg, Germany) were Guests of Honour. Carlos in his address expressed that during three years of their green project, the entire team could tap different avenues related to green economy. Juliana Hilf briefed about the various activities undertaken by their project Enhancing Green Economy in Asia. The function was Presided over by Hon’ble Shri Abhijeet Deshmukh (Director, LTJSS, India). He said that though universal measures are been taken by activists are unfortunately proving to be too little for the obvious reason that the rate of degradation is rapid and alarming than the concomitant protective measures. Dr. Vivek Nanoti (Project Head & Director Engg, LTJSS) emphasized on the need of networking to exchange constructive ideas for sustainable development. Dr. S.A. Dhale, Principal PCE congratulated the organizers for the successful organization of this conference. He assured that all such enhancement programmes will be given due importance even in future which not only benefit the faculty and the students but the humanity as well. Dr. S.N. Rao, Convener of the conference delivered welcome speech and urged the delegates to extract maximum from the experts. Conference proceedings were released at this moment. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. M.A. Soni. The programme was compered by Dr. Priyanka Warnekar.
Invited talks were delivered by international & national eminent scientists/ researchers on Green Initiatives for sustainability. In this conference scientists, industry persons, managers, students and academicians from Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal & India discussed & deliberated on the myriad methods, mechanisms, approaches, strategies and models developed through research to combat with the gigantic issues of sustainable development. Research work done on community driven water conservation through natural technology, synthesis, characterization & applications of nano materials, green routes for the manufacture of industrially important chemicals, new concepts of waste management, measures for attaining sustainability in health sector, sustainable policies, etc, were discussed. Around 200 participants attended the sessions. Although the conference was being conducted in offline mode but, there was a provision of presenting their work in online mode by outstation participants. All the organizing committee members worked hard for the success of the conference.
