About the Priyadarshini Skill and Personality Development Programme Centre for SC/ST Students (SPDP):

The Institute has setup Priyadarshini Skill and Personality Development Programme Centre (SPDP) as a central facility for the benefit of SC/ST students of the Institution. The Priyadarshini Skill and Personality Development Programme Centre is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the scheme AICTE Quality Improvement Scheme (AQIS) for the year 2019-2020. The centre will conduct various skill and personality development training programs, guest lectures, workshops and seminars on soft skill and English to reorient and empower SC/ST students in the institute in the light of emerging employment opportunities at all levels.

Objectives of SPDP Centre:

  • To empower the Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) students by providing special skill trainings apart from regular study.
  • To enhance the skills of students with the help of modules on communication, personality development and proficiency in English language.
  • Boost the confidence and skill of the students and encourage students to speak English with fluency and accuracy as well as develop the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking of English
  • Provide better career opportunities so that their employability in the industry will be increases.
  • Helps to develop an impressive personality of the students.
  • To Ensures continuous improvement and growth of students and helps them to better management of problems in the life
  • To builds balance in life and ensures excellence in one’s field

Focused areas of SPDP centre:

  • Communication skill is very much necessary to convey the ideas and exchange the information and it will be achieved by organizing various orientation programmes.
  • Problem solving skills is needed to deal with process of finding solutions to complex challenges. Problem solving skills will be improved by conducting lecture hours and online mode training.
  • Teamwork is essential to develop interpersonal skills and leadership qualities in students and it will be achieved by organizing project competitions and team activities.
  • Creativity is the use of imagination and ideas to create something new. Creativity helps students to come up with newer ideas. Creativity skill will be improved by developing various conceptual models in different disciplines.
  • Provide training on latest programming languages with hands on sessions.

Benefits to the students from the SPDP Centre:
  • Students of SC / ST sector will have increased employment opportunities.
  • Improve knowledge and communication skill of the students.
  • Students will get strong academic knowledge on their discipline to compete with the industry trends.
  • Obtain proficiency (written and spoken) in English language.
  • Improve communication skills and focus on personality development.
  • Obtain proficiency in programming languages.
  • Strengthen the aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Students will be able to attend any competitive exam with high level of confidence.

 

Activities under the SPDP centre:

The Following activities will be organized by centre:

  • Organize Orientation programmes to enhance proficiency in English language, improve communication skills, both written and verbal and focus on personality development.
  • Organize lectures by inviting eminent personalities and academics, at regular intervals to update the knowledge of the students.
  • Organize open houses/ personality development workshops / competitions among students, to test the degree of their learning,
  • The centre will develop a feed-back mechanism to assess the importance of the programme. The feed-back will be obtained after each programme from each of the SC/ST students. If needed, the centre can update its curriculum of these programmes to satisfy the need of industry.

 

 

Expected Outcome of the SPDP Centre:

After successful completion of various modules designed at the Skill and Personality Development Programme Centre following are the expected outcomes from the students of Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) category :

    • Enhancement of Spoken English skills of students
    • Practicing English using everyday scenarios by students
    • Increasing  vocabulary of students
    • Speaking English with correct pronunciation
    • Improvement in   functional grammar skills of students  in writing and speaking English
    • Improvement  the confidence level of the students
    • Increased sense of self worth.
    • Increased flexibility and adaptability to change in the different situations.
    • Improvement in  professional skills, employability, self-discipline, talent and potential
    • Increased happiness and positive attitudes towards  active life
