About Department

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1999-2000 with the aim of providing state-of-the-art education in cutting-edge technologies. The initial sanctioned intake in 1999 was 60 students per year. Since its inception, the department has experienced significant growth in all aspects. The Chemical Engineering Department is housed in a modern facility and is equipped with well-maintained laboratories featuring advanced equipment. Notably, it is the sole Chemical Engineering Department within the RTM Nagpur University region to have received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. Given the close interdisciplinary relationship between Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology in areas such as reactor design, processing, and modeling, the latter is considered an extension of the Chemical Engineering department.

The Department of Chemical Engineering obtained approval from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to offer the Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Chemical Engineering program in 2010-11, with an intake of 18 students. The department's alumni and current students have consistently demonstrated exceptional academic performance, securing top positions in university examinations and achieving successful careers in the global corporate sector. To maintain its position at the forefront of technological advancements, the department actively organizes various academic and professional development activities, including guest lectures, seminars, workshops, and industrial visits. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, representing an investment of over INR 1.30 Crore to date.

The department successfully secured a grant of INR 1.35 Crore from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and other organizations, allocated across various initiatives including Research Promotion Scheme (RPS), Short Term Training Programs (STTP), Faculty Development Programs (FDP), Modernization of Laboratories (MODROB), and Young Scientist Travel Support. All students are required to complete a mandatory internship at esteemed organizations and industries such as the RCF, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum (HP), SNM Agro., INVNTYES Research Company, Tanmay Industries, Shiney Private Limited, and others. Our students are placed at Metlok Pvt. Ltd., Schneider Electric, Solar Group, Macleods Pharma Pvt. Ltd. etc.

Our students have successfully pursued advanced studies at prestigious institutions such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India, as well as international universities in Germany, Australia, and Magdeburg, focusing on Master of Science (MS) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs.
